Aileen O'Rourke
Aileen O’Rourke Chartered Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist MISCP. Aileen graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1995 with an Honours Degree in Physiotherapy
From there she moved to the USA where she worked in a private sports injury and orthopaedic clinic for 4 years. She completed her Masters of Health Science in Orthopaedic Physiotherapy at the University of Indianapolis in 1999.
She returned to Dublin and worked for the next three years in Beaumont Hospital as a Senior Physiotherapist in Orthopaedics specialising in pre and post operative physiotherapy for patients undergoing knee and back surgery. Aileen worked in private practice in Dublin from 2003 until 2008 which focused on the assessment and treatment of musculoskeletal conditions in adults and children. In 2006 Aileen qualified as a Stott Pilates Instructor and has been teaching Pilates extensively since then.She is particularly interested in working with clients with longstanding low back pain and pre and post natal women.
Aileen is a Galway native, with home being Portumna. She returned with her family to live in Oranmore in 2008, and joined the team at Physio4U in September 2009. Currently Aileen works two days a week Wednesday and Friday. Aileen’s areas of interests include rehabilitation in all patient groups from elite athletes to young children with musculoskeletal conditions. She is also very interested in the area of lower limb biomechanics particularly in dancers and runners with assessment for orthotic prescription and fitting.
Aileen is a keen sportswomen having participated in triathlons and marathons. She has also competed at national level in swimming. She is aware of the commitment that individuals require being involved in sport at all levels and the importance of good injury prevention and management of any injuries that are sustained.
